    Getting Set Up

This first section will discuss what you need to set up so you can dispatch from home or anywhere else that you have a phone and an internet connection.

We will cover different tech hardware and software, how to organize, and what documents to have ready so you can sign carriers up for your services when employed by a dispatching company.

    Your Computer:

Let’s start with the hardware you will need to be a dispatcher. At the most basic level, you will need a computer or laptop (we will say a computer covers both) to be a dispatcher.

The computer is your office and here is where you with do everything it takes to service the carriers that you dispatch for. You will find carriers, find loads for carriers, get your carriers paid, and get yourself paid with your computer. If you do not have a computer, when choosing one just know it is your lifeline, the heartbeat of your business so don’t go cheap and don’t go overboard.

A middle-of-the-line computer will be perfect, you need to have sufficient memory of 16Gb or more and decent storage space of at least 500Gb. Something that is very useful is you can have multiple monitors on a computer. This will allow you to have more information in an eye view when verifying information and making decisions on behalf of your carriers.

Dispatching the information in front of you is key be it having multiple load boards open or comparing an old rate confirmation with a newly edited rate confirmation. These may be terms you are not familiar with yet but you will be soon.

    Internet Access:

Having reliable internet access is a must. In trucking, time is your best friend and your enemy. If you have spotty internet access that could possibly slow down or disconnect completely, you could lose loads for your carrier.

When doing paperwork to win a load for your carrier you only have a minimal amount of time to fill everything out and get it back to a broker or they will offer the load to someone else. So dependable internet access is a must-have.

    Trained Dispatchers

I went through the mentor program, started my LLC about 6 weeks ago, and had Leslie to guide me every step of the way. She has always been there to help me answer the questions. I got to book a few loads for a couple of my carriers on the dedicated and that got me hooked and hungry to find more dedicated lanes.

I hit the ground running because Leslie was there every step of the way, there’s no way I would be on my way to this much success if I would have bought any other mentor program. Thanks Leslie Pelletier for everything! I owe you big time!
